North East, Maryland is a town in Cecil County, Maryland with a population of 2,733 at the 2000 census. North East is located along the I-95, within 50 miles of both Baltimore and Philadelphia, making it easily accessible.  Located at the head of the Northeast River, it is a short drive to many parks and historical points of interest. It is the hom of the Cecil Community College - Main Campus, and is currently experiencing industrial growth as the regional headquarters for Delmarva Power and the Flying "J" Travel Plaza.

EDUCATION
North East is in the Cecil County Public Schools school district. There are 8 schools in the North East area including two elementary, one middle, one high and four specialized schools including The Tome School, which is designated for K-12, and Cecil Community College. Post-secondary students in North East have opportunities nearby with the University of Delaware only 24 miles away and West Chester University of Pennsylvania only 34 miles away, and only minutes to Cecil College, fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and the Maryland Higher Education Commission.

RECREATION
North East has its own North East Community Park. This is located on the Northeast River and has three picnic pavilions for community use, as well as paved walkways, a volleyball court, a children's playground, and available fishing and docking by the Upper Bay Museum. Other parks include Turner Park which includes a well-maintained baseball diamond available for public use and Herring Snatcher Park, best known for its great fishing. There are other regional and state parks close by including the Elk Neck State Park, a major recreational area, located just 10 miles south of town.
